You know by now that when we pick up with the series, Bones will be in bloom! But John Francis Daley tells us that while Sweets is over the moon about the new bond shared by Bones and Booth, the rest of the team might not have the same reaction. “I think [Sweets] will be thrilled about Bones’ pregnancy because he was the biggest cheerleader for the two of them getting together. This is all of the hard work he believed he did toward the goal of getting them together paying off. I think others on the team might not be happy about it. It is certainly gonna complicate the workplace vibe. I’m sure they will have fun with it as much as they can because that’s the tone of our show in general.”

My response: In my opinion, Sweets has been a fair-weathered friend of B&B being together. When the brain scan didn't show what he wanted, he told Booth he wasn't in love with Bones. When Booth was with Hannah, he encouraged him to propose. I used to like Sweets... past tense!

Angela used to be B&B's biggest fan. But when Hannah entered the picture, Angela gave up. Angela & Brennan didn't have much to do with each other most of the season. Maybe she'll redeem herself as Brennan's best friend. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Question: Are we gonna get a Bones Christmas episode this season? They had one in Season 5, but not in Season 6. So I think it’s time dust off the mistletoe! —Hanna
Ausiello: At this point, “nothing’s planned,” responds exec producer Stephen Nathan. “But since we will be airing in the middle of December, we might toss in a snowman or something. My Response: As much as I'd like to have a Christmas episode, it wouldn't make much sense because they're moving ahead the timeline like they did with season 6 (coming back 7 months later). Although, I think the writers forgot they did that since that would have meant that the team would have been back in D.C. in December and Hannah was gone before Valentine's Day. Of course, I don't mind if all of the bad stuff happened very quickly, but it wasn't realistic. So.... if they want to have an unrealistic time jump for Christmas, I'm all for it. What does a calendar mean in the Bones-verse... not much! LOL!

If you think Bones' seventh season is just going to be about diaper-changing and nap time, think again: The show is introducing a new villain, TVGuide.com has learned.

"This is someone who is an extremely odd and fearless foe," executive producer Stephan Nathan tells us, comparing the character to such past serial killers as Gormogon and The Gravedigger. "Only he's going to be much more of a 21st-century, tech-savvy foe."

Fox announced last week that Bones won't premiere until Nov. 3, which will allow the network to air six episodes in the fall before star Emily Deschanel takes her maternity leave. Nathan says those six episodes will primarily focus on expectant parents Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Deschanel) preparing to raise their child together, but they will also introduce the new killer, who will take a while to subdue.

"At the end of [Episode] 6, we want to leave with a real surprise for the audience from a plot point of view," Nathan says. "I'm not necessarily talking about Booth and Brennan... [but this] nefarious character, who we will follow for a little bit this season and perhaps next."

My Response: I'm really hoping for excitement in the last episode in December for both B&B and with the new villian. I think a high-tech villian would be fun, but I'm concerned that it would be too far off for a case that would involve Bones. But I'm willing to see if it could work. As far as B&B, I'm glad they will be focusing on them as well as the case. I feel like we've missed too much of their new relationship already and it has me bummed. I wasn't expecting super sweet dates and roses. (I mean daffofils.) But come on, everything seems so unrealistic right now. I hope the writers can convince the audience that the newest storyline is something viewers want to see. They did a very horrible job with season six.

What I'd like to see most is Booth having to deliver their baby. That would be hilarious!

ADAM: Executive producer Stephen Nathan confirms that the Nov. 3 premiere deals with an amnesia victim, which forces Booth and Brennan to reflect on their own pasts. That means that Ryan O'Neal will be returning as Brennan's father, but will we meet any of Booth's family in the process? "We'll be dealing with an important aspect of Booth's family as well," Nathan says. "Both of them had quite unique and difficult upbringings. It's about finding out how memories affect [them] going forward."

My Response: I'm really looking forward to this. I wonder if we will see a return of Hank or Jared rather than a "new" family member. I could do without Jared but would love to see Hank again. Meeting Booth's dad would make for an interesting story. Do we know anything about his mom? I can't remember anything about her.

1. The season 7 premier is titled: “The Memories in the Shallow Grave.”


2. “The first episode will pick up with Brennan moving into the third trimester of her pregnancy” — just as her portrayer, Emily Deschanel, will be come fall — reveals exec producer Stephen Nathan. “Brennan is still the same strong character and shows no sign of slowing down. She attacks each case as she always has, although she must now deal with the realities of being pregnant.” Meaning…? “Small spaces are a challenge.”

Characters Returning and Replaced

Yes, the show is off the air. But it is not off of our minds yet, so there is still plenty to report. We don't know where Bones is going with that little pregnancy thing yet, unfortunately. Sorry. You'll just have to be satisfied with other pieces of Bones and Finder news.

Thanks to some information picked up from TVLine, we can report some casting rumors from both Bones and The Finder. Of course, thanks to the time of the year, none of this is definite. What can you do?

A Sidekick for Booth?

No, this does not mean any sort of replacement for Brennan. Bones has already gone down that road and beaten the fans over their heads with the journey. So that's not the issue here. Instead, Booth may be looking at a younger shadow over at the FBI.

Tina Majorino, who prominently played FBI Agent Genny Shaw during the season 6 episode, "The Hole in the Heart," may be back next fall. The Shaw character was fairly obviously open-ended, so there's no plot reason to not bring her back. And, according to a quote in TVLine, Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan would be fine with Majorino's return: "We love Tina and would love to have her back next year."

It's only fair, if you think about it. Brennan has her endless parade of rotating squinterns, so why doesn't Booth get help too? Granted, the character of Genny Shaw has thus far been pretty straight-laced. She's going to have to come up with a whole bunch of quirks if the character is going to recur on a show like Bones.


And a New Sidekick for Walter

Over on The Finder, we're definitely going to be have a new sidekick thrown into the mix. The co-star from the pilot episode (seen during Bones' season 6), Saffron Burrows will be replaced for the series itself.

Instead of an English bartender named Ike, we're going to have a teenager named Willa.
Willa will be around 17 years old and will have the same sort of criminal, shady past that Ike was supposed to have. This probably means an awful lot of lock-picking and other petty crimes, unless Willa has a past as a very young criminal mastermind.

The part has not yet been cast. As far as any rumors are concerned, neither of the other main Finder characters (Walter and Leo) will change for the series.

Yep... I can say I feel strongly that there will be no backtracking next season... just a new kind of evolution. They are together...they consider themselves a real solid couple...it's just going to be about maneuvering through the waters of how exactly they will do all of it. How they will comingle their different approaches and viewpoints while respecting the other, and doing what they feel is right for their child. I think we will see less "making out" and more "loving". I think we will see challenges, misunderstandings (and by this I can envision those misunderstandings being more of, each trying to make the other happy without really quite understanding what that is that will make them happy...but some interesting negotiations in trying to figure that out!) and ultimately some really good chemestry!

I think the arrival and the gestation of this baby will be quite unlike Hodgela baby...because Brennan and Booth are so totally unlike Hodgela in every way. I can imagine Brennan wanting to work until the minute the baby arrives, and metaphorically squat in the woods as women have done for centuries... Booth would be aghast at this kind of chance taking, but he'd respect her wishes. I can also see something like the baby arriving suddenly and without warning and they having to deliver it themselves... Brennan coaching Booth along. the total experience for Booth that he did not get the first time! And so ultra private...so "What's theirs is theirs".... Of course, I'm sure the writier have something in mind that we haven't even thought of... but one thing I feel certain of, is that there will be no backtracking...from this point forward...whatever happens...they are a couple!

The Pregnancy News will Already be Out

The only thing remotely as exciting as Brennan and Booth’s shocking season finale baby news is the thought of the Jeffersonian team’s reaction to it. But executive producer Stephen Nathan told Give Me My Remote that, sadly, the news will have has already been broken come fall.

“When we come back, people will know [about the pregnancy],” reveals Nathan. But this fast-forward in time is for good reason: Emily’s very real, growing baby bump during the summer hiatus. Nathan explains, “Emily being pregnant, she’s probably going to be showing a little bit more than she is now. There’s a realistic time jump and we’re still working out how we’re going to deal with that.” Fair enough.

At least there’s one thing we can definitely look forward to (and breathe easy about) with Bones Baby #2. Nathan promises that when it comes to the baby’s health, “it is not our intent at this point to recreate the Hodgins and Angela pregnancy” — the source of much anxiety for the two new parents and fans. “That was their pregnancy; this is going to be Booth and Brennan’s pregnancy. Totally unique,” he promises. “And when baby is being born it is also not going to be done in the same way.”

We’re not sure what that last part means. Will Brennan give birth in the lab? With a midwife? Without Booth? We shudder to think. We also can’t wait!

ADAM: Executive producer Stephen Nathan likes your conspiracy theory. "Let's keep that one alive until next season," he says with a laugh. "Let's let people get all upset." In truth, Nathan says the writers were more concerned with feelings. "Whether or not we see them jumping around in the sack did not seem as important as the emotional acceptance of who they were to each other," Nathan says. "Moving into Season 7, [the pregnancy] cements their relationship and forces them to accept the fact that they are a couple, they are in love and that they will be moving forward together."

Okay... I'm back with a more positive outlook. :)

Stephan Nathan isn't the best at interviews, but some of his answers in interviews following the finale seem to be helpful. After each section's interview answers, I'll give my point of view.

Are they a couple?

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY:

I just spent five minutes yelling “WHAT?” at my TV — in a good way. I can’t believe Brennan is pregnant. Some fans are worried that because Angela used the word “dream” in conversation with Brennan, Brennan’s conversation with Booth was just a dream. But she really is pregnant, correct?
Absolutely. This is not a dream.

What was the time jump between Nigel-Murray’s death last week and this week when she told Booth that she was pregnant?
It’s probably at least a month.

Did they sleep together just that once, or have they been sleeping together since that night?
I think that’s up to every viewer. I have my little feeling about it, but I don’t want to impose my opinion on that on anyone.

After last week’s episode aired, some fans felt cheated that if there was a real love scene, we didn’t get to see it. Will we ever get to see that moment, or will we just move forward?
Well, we’ll now see them as a couple — whatever a couple means to Booth and Brennan. [Laughs] It will be that unique couple. It won’t be what you expect.

First, please assure me that this isn’t going to be some kind of bait and switch. Brennan is really carrying Booth’s child, right?
It was not a dream. There is no alternate reality. What you see is what you get. They are having a baby. She is pregnant with his child. She [slept with] him in the previous episode and this was the outcome.

So this isn’t just two co-workers having a baby together after a one-night stand. This is a full-fledged couple starting a family?
They are as much of a full-fledged couple as two unique and difficult people can be. Brennan is not a fan of marriage. Booth is somebody who’s always wanted to get married. These issues still remain. The tension that has existed in their relationship up to this point will continue. They’re now sharing something and they’re committed to each other in a way they always wanted and there’s no way to avoid that. They have to deal with the reality that they’ve gotten what they secretly wished for.

This is a very unconventional path to take. I mean, these two haven’t been on a real date together and now they’re having a baby.
The reality is, Booth has been with Brennan more than he ever was with [a real girlfriend like] Hannah. Which is always the case when people work together in a high-pressure job. [By making Brennan pregnant] we avoid all of the [trappings] that people commonly associate with the Moonlighting curse, which is, “Oh, now they have to date,” or “Oh, now they have to hug each other and kiss and share desserts.” They never have to share dessert. [Laughs]



My take on this...

Comfort Sex: I'm okay with it only because they have loved each other for so long (even if Brennan didn't realize it). I would like to believe it was more than sex. They made love. What is the evidence? At the end of Hole in the Hart (HitH), Brennan went to him and put her arm through his. Booth didn't smile right away. When he did smile, to me it looked like he realized that she wasn't going to panic or run. He knew that they were okay. He knew they were a couple.

The Change in the Game (TCitG) didn't show the affection I was expecting. However, they were very comfortable around each other. The way Booth looked at her when he told her she could be his girlfriend, to me, it looked as if that was a given because she already was his girlfriend. They didn't have to make that part up. I was surprised it was changed to engaged. With both of those situations, Brennan was not balking at the idea.

I think they probably continued progressing in the new level of their relationship between episodes. If they didn't, whatever the reason, I think they would have acted awkwardly around each other. Why did they walk so far apart from each other at the end of the finale? Well, I think that was Brennan's unspoken choice. Throughout the episode, she was testing Booth's reaction about babies and kids. She was nervous about how he would react. Of course, Booth wanted another child, but he was once again doing it without a marriage. The smile on his face once it sunk in was priceless. What shocked me was Brennan's smile. They are happy.

Are they a couple? In my opinion, yes. They are a couple.

What will happen in season 7?

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY:

Would this be happening now in the story if Emily Deschanel hadn’t become pregnant in real life?

Yes. This was something that we had been discussing even before Emily found out she was pregnant. It’s very difficult to find a way to deal with two characters who everybody knows should be together without embracing what everybody calls the Moonlighting curse. We had to find a way to keep the integrity of those characters intact, and yet move them along because you can only wait so long. So we wanted to avoid that part of the relationship where you first get together and the fresh glow of love, and you’re sharing dessert, and you’re overly polite. We didn’t want to do that. Booth and Brennan have disagreed about fundamentally everything — except each other — for six years. That will continue. Their characters will remain the same: Booth and Brennan will have completely different ways of dealing with the pregnancy, completely different ways of dealing with where their life goes from here. Booth is the marrying kind as we know, and Brennan is not. Where are they gonna live? How are they gonna raise the child? How are they gonna continue to catch murderers together when they have a baby hanging around? So all of these issues will be dealt with in the way that they’re always dealt with — from opposite sides. The ultimate pragmatist meets this romantic who has faith that everything will be worked out as long as you look at it the right way. These are issues that won’t die. We hopefully have found a way to continue what everyone loves about Bones while really kicking it up a notch and adding a whole new set of complications now that these two people actually find themselves together.

Do you anticipate a time jump when the show returns in the fall?
It’s not gonna be two weeks later. We’ll see them a little bit further along. Exactly how far along remains to be seen. We’re working that out now.

It’s not like Alf has come into their lives, it’s something real. We want that to affect the show, but it’s not gonna be a show about having babies. It’s not Parenthood. I’m sure there are gonna be some viewers who are upset. “Oh, the baby’s gonna do this and do that.” A lot of viewers always make up their mind on how we’re gonna ruin the show before it happens. [Laughs] And hopefully we will disappoint those viewers. And the viewers who have faith that we’ll be able to take the show into new territory well, we hope we won’t disappoint them. We’re very, very excited about being able to do the show that we love doing, but do it with fresh eyes

What impact did Emily’s pregnancy have on this story? Would you have gone this route regardless?
Emily being pregnant certainly figured into it to a certain extent. But [series creator] Hart [Hanson] and I were leaning toward this independently of that. The biggest problem we faced going into Season 7 was how to get these two people together while keeping the integrity of Brennan and Booth’s characters in tact. By going this route, we didn’t have to have them go through the traditional love-dovey stage where everything was wonderful and they understood each other and they got past their differences. That’s never going to be the case. They now are together but are essentially the same exact characters. They’re going to disagree on everything they disagreed about before, including how to approach their lives together, religion, family and now how to approach having a child. So we lose nothing but gain a huge amount with the reality that they are now together sharing the biggest thing in their lives.

Will they move in together?

That will be addressed in Season 7. When we open in Season 7, it’s not Ozzie and Harriet. It’s not a perfect little domestic family situation. They haven’t figured out where they’re living, how they’re living and what their future is. They just know that they’re together.

How much time will have passed?
That’s something we’re still deciding. We will probably pick up a couple of months down the line.

My take on this...

B&B do everything backwards. So have a baby already? Why not? They've known each other for 6 years. They know each others pasts, faults, and beliefs. They know they will have to work to maintain their relationship. And most importantly, neither one of them wants to fail and lose the other.

I think the bickering and bantering will continue centered around their life-styles and raising a child together. I believe they will remain a couple and not just raise the child as friends and partners. I don't see either of them "running away." The baby bonds them. This is B&B. I know this kind of foundation doesn't work with a lot of people in the real world, but B&B are unique. They're the center and the center must hold.

Will we see more physical affection? I sure hope so. Watching old episodes from seasons 1-5 can be sad sometimes. They touched each other a lot. We haven't seen this in so long. I think we need it and deserve it. B&B need it and deserve it. I'm not asking for a sex scene, but I wouldn't complain if we saw something like in the coma dream. I don't mind if they keep what's theirs to themselves. I just want to see the chemistry return.

Bones stars' tease on season finale

Bones star David Boreanaz has promised the hit show will be in a "fresh place" after Season Six ends with some dramatic final episodes.

"I think where and how it ended is really a great starting point for where it can go for the next season and the season after that," he revealed in Beverly Hills."

Speaking before a special Q&A with fans at the Paley Centre for Media, the 41-year-old admitted shooting Season Six had been exhausting.

"It was great but it was a long season," he explained. "It was more towards the end of the season that it started to get really tiring and a little more demanding."

If that isn't cryptic enough, David says fans will see the "will-they-won't-they" relationship between his character Special Agent Seeley Booth and Dr Temperance 'Bones' Brennan (Emily Deschanel) change.

"We don't know how it's going to evolve, I do know how we end Season Six and how we go into Season Seven will be very interesting as far as our relationship is concerned.

"The dynamics are going to change slightly but in more of a positive [way], or what people think might be positive might be twisted around a little bit," he promised mysteriously.

Co-star Emily said fans should brace themselves for a few tears in the final episodes. "Some people may need tissues," the pregnant star revealed. "I can't deny that!"

The 34-year-old actress admitted even she was emotional: "Well, I had a feeling about certain things that would happen, so I wasn't surprised.

"I probably shed a tear reading [the scripts], I'll admit that, I thought they were really great episodes."

Season 7 is a GO for Bones!

It's been less than 24 hours and it's already old news. No surprise there. A Bones renewal was anxiously anticipated. The last renewal was in 2009, a 2-year contract, and then it was Hart Hanson that let the cat out of the bag. This time it was the guy with the new twitter account. LOL!

Oh, Season 7 is GO for Bones

Oops... David Boreanaz has been having a ton of fun with his new-found friend... Twitter! I love his unofficial sneak peek photos on the set. I also love all his personal tweets with and about his family. What a true romantic & family man he seems to be. I'm glad he was able to get back on the right path with his wife.

Well, David set the media into a frenzy late last night and today and we didn't have to wait long for the official announcement... Bones has been renewed for one year rather than the 2 years that Hart Hanson (HH) had hoped for. Fox has profit to think about and Bones is now an at-risk show mostly because of its age and then because it had so many fans upset about the season. Just because fans try and stick through season 6 for something worth watching doesn't mean they'll return after a long summer hiatus if they still have little hope left after the finale.

I hope HH fixes things before it's too late. Chop-chop! (And throw in a doggy come 'ere whistle like Booth did to Brennan in the Finder episode.) *u*

Make no Bones about it: Booth and Brennan will be back on the case next fall!

Fox has renewed the hit procedural for a seventh season after coming to terms on a new license fee agreement with producer 20th Century Fox TV.

“Bones is creatively fresh, it’s a rock-solid player every time it airs and this season it has helped us win on Thursday nights for the first time in our history,” said Fox president Kevin Reilly. “Hart Hanson and the fantastic cast and crew, as well as the millions of loyal Bones fans, make this show really special, and I’m excited to have it on our air for another stellar season.”

The news comes at what could be a critical turning point in the show’s history. After six years of will-they-or-won’t-they anticipation, Booth and Brennan may be heading into next season as a full-fledged couple. Producers are also busy assessing what creative impact, if any, Emily Deschanel’s real-life pregnancy will have on the show.

While I agree that Bones deserves a ton of praise and that they did help Thursday evenings' ratings, I have to be honest here... American Idol (AI) did most of the work when it was brought to Thursday nights in January. AI also helped Bones ratings return to stellar numbers and off-set some of the fans that left for greener pastures... i.e. Shows that were entertaining without being depressing. Sometimes, the truth hurts. If Bones was the history making show with the amazing numbers they didn't need help to achieve because the writing turned off so many fans, and HH wasn't so arrogant with his fans and critics, I think a 2-year contract would have been a reward that matched such legitimate praise. Just saying...
